My top ten Ace Attorney kilers (3-1)

Here we are, the home stretch, the three most fucked up killers in the Ace Attorney series. The following are by far some of the most despicable people I’ve ever read about fictional or otherwise. I came up with this list weeks ago, and #1 STILL disgusts me with what they did! But, I’m jumping ahead of myself.

3 Dahlia Hawthorne

People who have encountered Dahlia wouldn’t describe her as…pleasant. She comes off as an innocent, charming young woman but, she has no regard for life. The troubled daughter of the fore-mentioned Morgan Faye, she shared her mother’s love of power and wealth. During her life, and even after, she left a body count in her wake including an ex-boyfriend and her step sister, but perhaps the most tragic was a simple yet kind man named Terry Flawes.

Terry Flawes assisted Dahlia and her step sister in a diamond heist. Dahlia’s sister was a cop, and Terry played the role of Dahlia’s kidnapper. They “held” her ransom and forced her father to pay in rare jewels. When her sister arrived at the meeting ground, Dahlia stole the diamond then jumped in to a nearby river. Terry went to jail for the assumed murder of Dahlia and spent several years in jail. Dahlia one day receives a letter from her now guilt stricken sister, threatening to expose the heist.

Dahlia met with and killed her sister, ready to let her fall guy Terry, who broke out of prison to meet with the cop, get blamed for this murder. Now this is where it gets dark, Dahlia had Terry so charmed that she convinced to him to commit suicide before testifying against her, and then walked out of the court room with a smile on her face. But she didn’t stop there, she also poisoned a defense attorney who was investigating her, and even gave the murder weapon to an unassuming Phoenix Wright whom she plotted to kill later.

So, my buddy keeps insisting that she be #1 on this list because of the fact her horrible aura can burn up small insects. While a valid argument, and even committing some of the heinous crimes within the game series. But like most others, she was motivated by greed so in my eyes Dahlia is nothing more than a sociopathic gold digger.

2 Calisto Yew

Smart, cool, cold-blooded, freckles, this spy is straight up waifu material! Calisto Yew is a personal favorite of mine, although she didn’t get #1 on this list she ranks high in my overall favorite antagonists of all time. First off, we don’t even know her real name, also she got away with a double murder right in the middle of the court house. Like I said, Ms. Yew is a bad bitch.

Calisto was a spy for this underground ring and needed to take care of a prosecutor named Byrne Faraday. She enlisted the help of a criminal and told him to cause a scene implementing Mr. Faraday of several crimes. This naturally caused a panic in court and a recess was called while things get sorted out. She was originally just going to have him defamed, but when Mr. Faraday called the criminal in to his office for a chat, she felt she had no choice but to take them both out.

So, while Calisto does enjoy her job, she’ll murder you then laugh about it, killing wasn’t her first choice. Like Shelly De Killer, she was focused on her job which was to get rid of Mr. Faraday. And to be honest, she’s not the worse killer in the series but the things she does while trying to get away are screwed up. She lied about being close to a victim in another case to convince the criminal to go along with her plan, she befriended and betrayed the court system, shot at a 14-year-old girl, and had a 17-year-old girl accused of murder on international soil. And while these actions are heinous, she just doesn’t quite reach #1 on this list.

1 Roger Retinz

One, never trust a guy who willing calls himself “The Ratings Rajah". Two, do not trust someone who looks like they would more comfortable in the gypsy tribe from Snatch. Three, never trust ANYONE who flashes money around by using $100 bills as a fan. Roger Retinz was much more than a murder, he was an asshole.

So, our story begins when Roger was a youth, he wanted to be a magician. He became the pupil of the world’s most famous magician family known as the Gramarye but was soon exiled for being too careless. Roger then got in to producing trashy reality T.V. and became known as “The Ratings Rajah”. He then manipulated two aspiring magicians in to help with his plot for revenge on his former teachers.

Roger arranged it so that one of the magicians, his pupil would be killed on stage in front of everyone and place the blame on the latest heir to the Gramarye name Trucy Wright during her show which he produced. But that was the only part of Roger’s plan, he also tricked Trucy in to singing a contract stating that if anything were to happen during the show, she would have to cover all the expenses.

Now let me put this in perspective for you. Not only was he going to send an innocent girl to jail for something she wasn’t even involved in, he also tricked and took on a pupil solely for this plan. He even went so far as to wait until Trucy’s world famous attorney father, Phoenix Wright, was out of town to increase his chances of success. Had Roger’s plan worked, not only would he have gotten rid of Trucy, but the amount of debt she would have accumulated would have bankrupted The Wright Law Offices. So not only was Roger Retinz willing to destroy a girl’s life, but also her family all in the name of revenge.

Apart from the attempted orca killer, every other killer in the Ace Attorney series had various reasons why they committed murder. Some it was to keep a secret, others to gain power and influence, even accidental deaths happen. Not with Roger, Roger was purely motivated by revenge and showed no remorse for his actions, even going so far as to taunt Trucy for falling in to his trap so easily. And because of that, Roger Retinz, you are truly an asshole among killers, liars and thieves. I tip my hat to you.
